Sunday afternoon

It's nice to have a weekend to recover after a 30 hour trip from Phuket back to Melbourne (including 20 hours waiting in airports).
This photo is from the plane over Outback Australia - the Red Centre (email me for a full size picture if you like it).
And I received confirmation of my acceptance to the Masters programme - in a Government Supported Place, meaning tuition is reduced from $10,000 to $3,300! What a bargain!!
And what an interesting week at work:
There was an 11 year old girl sent in by her school counselor after becoming tearful and saying her parents had to separate or she would kill herself, because her father used to hit her and she hates him.
When I spoke to her she was cheerful and chatty. except when discussing her father, when she became angry.
The only time she became tearful was describing an incident when she was 5 when her father had argued with her mother and sort of kidnapped her for a week. This was a pivotal event in her life, but when I finally got her parents into the room to talk with her (a miracle, they thought), and this incident came up, they both remembered it as having been overnight, and when she was 7 or 8.
She was brought to hospital by four adults: both parents, the school counselor and a family support worker.
This was her third day at high school. One of my colleagues comment was that this girl was going to have the whole school running around her, if they weren't careful
must go now - just been Skyped by a young woman from Guangdong, who is stuck at work (Sunday afternoon) with nothing to do except Skype people from around the world...
